Who are these people, you ask? We’re going to introduce them to you in our series – Can’t Stop Chronicles – to help put a face to the driving force behind our “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” motto. For our next spotlight, we sat down with Denver’s almost two-year veteran Brooks Hurbis, Senior Manager of Business Development.
What does your day-to-day look like?
I reach out to app developers and prospect new clients to work with us. My daily duties consist of taking sales calls, communicating with clients, and traveling to trade shows. I mostly work with my clients, but internally I work closely with Client Services and Account Management.
How have you grown in your career since starting at AdAction?
I think moving from brand to agency side was an interesting transition for me. Being able to work across multiple apps has given me more industry knowledge and has made me more savvy than being focused solely on one brand or vertical.
What’s a common question you get from clients?
“What differentiates AdAction from other partners?” I answer by stressing our quality of traffic and compliance tool, and ensure our potential clients that they’ll each have a dedicated account manager to work with and who makes sure their campaign is successful.
What is your favorite part of your job?
The people I work with everyday who make coming into the office fun. Everyone is smart, talented, and always willing to help. They’re a great resource.
When she’s not crushing it on the client side, Brooks is a contributing editor to our monthly blog series Back to Basics with Business Development. Here she offers relevant industry trends and advice, giving our clients a trusted source to turn to. Outside of the office Brooks fulfills work-life balance by staying active and running her own personal training business.
How do you keep a healthy work-life balance, and what do you like to do outside of the office?
Being able to shut off and take time for myself after work by exploring passions outside of the office, and making sure I’m using those vacation days to fully log off. I actually just got back from a two week trip to Cape Town, South Africa. I’m also a certified personal trainer so I like being active — I like hiking and I try to do a new trail every weekend in the summer.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
Grocery shopping or drinking wine.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I hate ketchup. I’ve always hated it and I’ve retried other foods that I didn’t like growing up, but it’s still the one I won’t touch.
What movie or TV universe would you want to live in and why?
Friends 100 percent. It’s my all-time favorite show.
Favorite Friday playlist song?
“Make Me Proud” by Drake or “Money To Blow”…also by Drake. It just gets me fired up for the weekend. Sometimes I even listen to it before sales calls.
