And just like that…another year come and gone. Before we set too many New Year’s resolutions, it’s important to take a look back at how AdAction has grown in 2018. We’ve accomplished a lot since January, and it’s only right that we celebrate all of our wins, especially within our culture. Being Great Place to Work certified and voted AustinInno’s Coolest Companies Readers’ Choice are just a couple of our victories. More importantly, this year we offered our employees numerous team-building activities, additional resources to grow, paid parental leave, and improved health benefits.
Being five years young in an ever-changing industry is an accomplishment in itself. However, we wouldn’t be able to keep pushing ourselves and the mobile marketing world forward without our team. Since our start in 2013, we’ve seen nearly 95 percent employee growth annually and are extremely impressed by the new talent we’ve onboarded. Not only have we hired a handful of new employees that contribute to our continued innovation, but we’ve given even more internal promotions including our first promotion to come from the Action360 program — a training program launched at the end of 2017 that enables our entry-level employees to gain a 360 understanding of the business from within and outside their department.
Besides encouraging and enabling our employees’ professional growth, we’ve rolled out some major improvements with our benefits to ensure our team is taking care of their well-being. Benefits weigh heavy in any job, with 80 percent of people preferring additional benefits over a pay raise.* Starting next year, we will be offering our team paid parental leave, short-term disability insurance, and more robust health benefits with 70 percent employer-paid premiums to help make healthcare more affordable for our employees.
This year we’ve also been focused on supporting the community while promoting team building. Through various volunteer events in Austin and Denver, our team contributed over 500 hours to giving back to our local communities. Some staff favorites include cleaning up and renovating a local school playground in Denver, and building bikes with Bikes for Goodness Sake in Austin. We’re also honored to have worked with the Ronald McDonald House, Denver Rescue Mission, A Precious Child, and Creative Action. A shining moment in our volunteer efforts was taking home the win in the Denver Startup Games and earning an $11,000 check made out to Mile High United Way.
While we weren’t busy building up our communities, we were building our relationships with each other. In 2018 we elevated our team bonding with events like a BBQ in Wash Park, boating on Lake Travis, axe throwing, curling, bowling, enjoying suites at NBA games, a handful of happy hours, and our epic all-company retreat to Mexico. We’ve seen a lot of changes at AdAction this year and we can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for us. While we can’t predict the future, we know it’ll be another legendary 365 days.
